Y10 Canoe Trip

Year 10 Canoe Trip – Thursday 21st May

On Thursday 21st May, the Year 10 OCR Sport Studies group headed off to West Wilts Youth Sailing Association to take part in their canoeing assessment.

They spent the morning learning about health and safety around canoeing, including how to enter and exit the canoe safely, as well as practising the different types of paddle strokes. Many of the groups successfully navigated their way around the lake without capsizing—although a few did end up taking an unexpected dip!

After lunch, students split into groups to take part in a series of teamwork-based games on the water. These activities were great fun and really tested their communication and cooperation skills. Inevitably, this led to even more capsizes, resulting in a number of very soggy Year 10s heading back on the buses!

It was a fantastic day filled with challenge, laughter, and memorable experiences. Well done to all of Year 10 for their enthusiasm, resilience, and positive attitude throughout.
